You were not born with self-doubt. You learned it. It is a skill you have perfected.



What is self-doubt?

Self-doubt shows up in various ways. It can negatively impact the quality of your relationships, your work, your career, your business and your overall happiness.

Self-doubt generally manifests in one of two ways. It is either contextual, meaning it is only a problem in certain situations such in a work or professional environment or with certain family members. In other cases, people may experience it as a nagging and persistent voice inside their head that says, “You’re not good enough.” It becomes a relentless cloud that keeps them in the shadow of their best self, sabotaging and derailing their hopes and dreams.

When these thoughts and feelings of self-doubt stop you from improving or keep you stuck in an endless loop of self-loathing and negativity, you’re caught in mental turmoil.



Creativity and self-doubt

In my experience as a Meta-Coach and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) Practitioner, self-doubt is common, especially among creative individuals. Our first task in coaching is to replace the unhelpful learned thinking with new, resourceful, habitual thinking of self-love and compassion.



Self-doubt is a skill!

The definition of a skill is something done well, with expertise.

If self-doubt is a skill that one has learned, can a new skill be acquired that can take its place?
